The area of Chianti is rich with historical significance as well as being a region famous for its culinary and wine traditions. However, there are also many archaeological sites of note in the area with Etruscan ruins, castles from the Middle Ages and monasteries, all in a setting of pristine nature. The rare and wonderful red wine known as Chianti Classico Castello di Cerreto is one of the many DOCG specialities of the local area. Another sought-after red wine, the Brunello di Montalcino, has been produced in the hills since the early 14th century, partly due to the fact that Montalcino has the warmest and driest climate in Tuscany.
Panzano is a town located on top of a hill and with spectacular views of the classic Tuscan countryside. Every Sunday the hamlet hosts a market with plenty of opportunities for wine tasting and various festivals for the culture and wine appreciator alike. The ancient Etruscan town of Greve in Chianti is named for the small river which runs through it and has a charming Franciscan monastery in the centre of town which is near the triangular piazza hosting a centuries-old market. The area host many landmarks as well as the Verrazzano Castle and church of Santo Stefano.

Impruneta, a town nestled in the famed grapevines of Chianti, is surrounded by pines and olive trees. The stone hills, warm-coloured buildings and earthy, winding streets hold the quintessential elements of what makes Tuscany one of the most beautiful regions to visit in Italy. Famous for its terracotta and ceramics, it also has historical sites to visit and the “Festa dell’Uva” (Grape Celebration) in September is a festivity that both travellers and locals look forward to each year.

Not to be overlooked in the medieval gem of Siena which is about a half hour from the villa. It is famous for its architecture, the Campo central piazza and the Palio horse race, which is held twice every summer. The property is just a short drive from Florence. This incredible city, with its art, architecture and unforgettable piazzas is the capital of the Renaissance and one of the most sought-after destinations in Europe. Brunelleschi’s masterpiece red dome rests on the captivating cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore gleaming with pinks and greens.
